Iran, April 3, 2019 – People of Susangerd, Khuzestan Province in southwest Iran, clash with the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) – April 3, 2019
From 1:30 am local time of early Wednesday morning, people in villages near the cities of Dasht-e Azadegan and Susangerd, Khuzestan Province in southwest Iran, began clashing with units of the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC).
The IRGC had opened flood dams built by the locals in a nearby area to prevent floodwaters from entering their farms. The IRGC, however, was seeking to prevent floodwaters from entering oil wells in this area that are controlled by its units.
The people showing resistance resulted in IRGC units opening fire and locals responding in self-defense. Reports indicate a number of civilians have been injured and one, by the name of Abud Rabie, is reportedly in dire conditions. Other reports indicate Rabie lost his life after being shot in the neck by the IRGC.
