Key remarks by Elona Gjebrea in Free Iran International Conference in Ashraf 3, MEK Headquarter

Reporting by PMOI/MEK

On July 13, 2019, dignitaries from dozens of countries across the world attended the main event of the Free Iran 2019 international conference. The conference was part of the five-day Free Iran 2019 series of conferences at the main headquarters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) in Ashraf 3, Albania. Several dignitaries, political and human rights activists delivered speeches, issuing remarks about the struggles of the Iranian people and their resistance movement for freedom in their country.

Following are key remarks by the member of Parliament from Albania and former Albanian Deputy Interior Minister Elona Gjebrea at the Ashraf 3 conference.

Elona Gjebrea:

Dear brothers and sisters, dear guests, dear Madame Maryam Rajavi,

It is really an honor for me to be in this wonderful place and I would like to thank all of you who have made this place as great as it is. The international community must recognize the rights of the Iranian people and resistance to establish freedom and democracy in their homeland, Iran.

Ashraf 3 is a symbol for freedom and the future. I was the Deputy Interior Minister when we started the relocation of MEK people here in Albania, with the support of the Albanian government, and of course, under the leadership of our Prime Minister Edi Rama. And it was really fantastic that all were safe and all together here in our beautiful country, Albania.

Last month, Albania took a strong position against the Iranian regime and terrorist attack in the Middle East. And our prime minister officially announced that these threats in the Gulf of Oman are a serious threat to international peace and energy security.

Albania stands firm with U.S., the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the UAE against what seems to be typical of provocations by Iran to escalate tensions.

The dossier of human rights abuses and the massacres of political prisoners in Iran must be referred to the UN Security Council.

I’m proud to support the Iranian women who are calling for change and democracy. I admire their courage and determinations.

We in our country, as my colleagues mentioned, we have our differences here in Albania. But all of us are united when it comes for the cause of MEK, people here in Albania, and all their efforts for freedom, peace and security. We stand with the people of MEK in Albania for their freedom and really would like to help them.

Thank you very much.
