July 24, 2018 – The Iranian regime’s ambassador to the United Nations has sent an official complaint letter to the United Nations Security Council for holding the recent Iranian opposition convention in Paris and the participation of senior American dignitaries in this event.

Gholamali Khoshroo denounced the presence of a number of American political figures and government officials, including US President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani, according to IRNA, the Iranian regime’s official news agency.

"Iran strongly condemns the U.S. government’s illegal measures against the Iranian people, including supporting the [PMOI/MEK]," the letter adds, claiming "these actions are in violation of international law, UN Charter principles and international laws in the fight against terrorism."

The letter specifically names Mayor Rudy Giuliani and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, both known for their very close relations to U.S. President Donald Trump, for participating in events in support of the PMOI/MEK, accusing them of "flagrantly provoking violence against Iranian people."

The Iranian opposition convention was held on June 30th in Paris where a large number of international delegations from a long list of countries, including leading political figures, Members of Parliaments, mayors, elected officials, and experts on international and Iranian affairs participated.

Speakers at the event voiced their support for ongoing Iranian protests and the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) as the democratic alternative for the mullahs’ regime, calling on the international community to adopt a firm policy against religious fascism ruling Iran and standing alongside the Iranian people.

NCRI President Maryam Rajavi was the keynote speaker at the event.

“A euphoric generation thirsting for freedom has risen up. Those taking part in the uprising joined by resistance units have now charted a new territory… The workers at Haft-Tapeh sugar cane factory resumed their uprising. Then, the workers at Ahvaz steel factory, and farmers in Isfahan rose up. Worshipers in Isfahan turned their backs on Khamenei’s Friday prayer leader and chanted: ‘My back to the enemy and facing the nation’… The time has come for the regime’s overthrow. Victory is certain and Iran will be free… The rebellious population and youth have rejected both factions of the regime. These are the same fearless youth who have chosen the path of fighting on, going on the maximum offensive, and waging resistance regardless of the cost,” Maryam Rajavi said.
