Opposition: Khamenei’s men in the military kill protesters in northern Iran

NCRI – 11 August 2019 – On Saturday, a number of people in the city of Mahmoudabad, Mazandaran Province in northern Iran, protested the confiscation of their lands by Khamenei's military and demanded their property returned, according to a statement issued by the Iranian opposition coalition National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI).  However, the mullahs' air force personnel opened fire on unarmed civilians, killing and wounding a number of them, and arresting others.

The terrorist-designated Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and other security forces have confiscated lands belonging to locals for suppressive proposes and financial gains.

The mullahs' air force personnel refused to follow orders issued by a regime court order to return the property to their rightful owners.

The IRGC call the protesters thugs and hoodlums who attacked the air force barracks and thus the personnel defended themselves, according to the IRGC-affiliated Fars news agency. To avoid the people's angry reaction, regime officials claimed that the personnel involved in the attack fired bird shots and locals were shot due to the land not being level (!).

The Iranian Resistance offers its sincere condolences to the victims’ families and wishes a quick recovery for those injured in the Mahmoudabad incident. The NCRI also calls on the youths to pledge support and rush to help Mahmoudabad's residents.

The Iranian Resistance further calls on the United Nations Secretary-General and the UN Security Council, along with all international human rights organizations to strongly condemn the Mahmoudabad shooting and killing of unarmed civilians.
