Iranian Resistance Units, defiant youth celebrate Fire Festival amid heavy security measures

Iran, March 19, 2020—Despite efforts by the regime to prevent celebrations during the annual Fire Festival (Charshanbe Suri), and using the coronavirus outbreak as a pretext to increase security presence across cities, Iranian Resistance Units and defiant youths took to the streets and reiterated the Iranian people’s desire to overthrow the tyrannical regime of the mullahs.

These activities take place while the Iranian regime’s mishandling of the coronavirus outbreak has so far resulted in more than 6,400 deaths across 196 cities in Iran and it has caused widespread outrage among the Iranian population.

Iranian Resistance Units, a network of People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) activists, and the rebellious youths carried out activities in various cities of the Iran such as Kerman, Tehran, Behbahan, Semnan, Shiraz, Behshahr, Kermanshah, Khash, Naghadeh, Darab Fars, Qom, Zahedan, Ilam, Qazvin, Bandar Abbas, Gachsaran, Ahvaz, Khorasan Razavi Province, Semnan, Karaj, Tonkabon, Mashhad, Tabriz, Dezful and Khorramabad.

Resistance Units in Kerman chanted: “Khamenei on fire. We will answer fire with fire.”

In various Iranian cities, the Resistance Units celebrated the Fire Festival while also reiterating the desire of the Iranian people to get rid of the mullahs and live in freedom. Tehran Resistance Units wrote handwritten slogans: Tehran— “This is an example of fire of the anger of Iranian people against the lethal virus, Khamenei”, “We will answer fire with fire. Down with Khamenei, Viva Rajavi, Viva freedom”, “The Iranian regime has imposed the coronavirus on the nation”, “Khamenei, the 40-year-old virus”, “You are the virus Khamenei” and “Khamenei is the culprit of Iranian people’s death”

The defiant youth in Tehran, Khoramabad and Dezful, torched effigies and images of the Iranian regime’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and the IRGC commander Qasem Soleimani who was killed in a U.S. drone strike in January. While torching images and effigies of Khamenei, the rebellious and defiant youth in Tehran chanted “The annual Fire Festival is the symbol of Iranian outrage against mullahs, their coronavirus and “Evil’s race. The main culprit of coronavirus” and “Coronavirus outbreak is the guilt of the Iranian regime & mullahs.”

They also paid homage to more than 1,500 protesters killed by Iranian security forces during the November uprisings.

The Images of Qassem Soleimani, regime’s president Hassan Rouhani, Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and regime’s founder Ruhollah Khomeini were torched by rebellious youth in Tabriz who chanted: “The world must know that Massoud Rajavi is our leader. Viva Maryam Rajavi.” They also reiterated the message of the Iranian resistance leader to rise against the mullahs’ coronavirus. “Down with Khamenei,” they wrote on their banners.

The defiant youth in Mashad, Karaj, Semnan, Khorasan Razavi Province, Kermanshah, Bandar Abbas, Gachsaran, Shiraz, Khash, Naghadeh, Ahvaz and Tonekabon chanted while torching the effigy of Khamenei: “Khamenei the murderer, we’ll bring you to justice” and “Neither the crown (monarchy) nor the turban (mullahs), Down with both dictatorships” and “Khamenei the sinister mullah, you are the real virus”, “Down with Khamenei” and “Khamenei you are the most dangerous virus. Down with Khamenei, Damn Khomeini” and “We’ll answer fire with fire. Khamenei on fire”.

In other cities such as Tehran, Qazvin, Darab Fars, Qom, Zahedan, Kerman, Ilam, Kermanshah, Behshahr, Shiraz, Semnan, Behbahan, members of the MEK Resistance Units wrote slogans on walls: “We’ll answer fire with fire. Khamenei on fire”, “We’ll answer fire with fire. Khamenei on fire”. Behshahr and Behbahan’s Resistance Units installed big banners of Massoud Rajavi with the slogan: Mullahs’ virus is decimating Iran’s youth”, “We must fight the mullahs’ coronavirus”, “The Iranian people want neither the coronavirus nor the mullahs”

In Shiraz and Tehran, they chanted “We’ll answer fire with fire. Down with Khamenei”, “Viva Rajavi” and “Khamenei, your days are numbered”, “We must rise to take back our legitimate rights”, Victory requires resistance and commitment”, “Resistance Units are committed to overthrowing this regime”, “Iran’s wealth must be confiscated in favor of people” and “Don’t be inactive during the coronavirus outbreak. Fighting is necessary for the victory.”

On previous days, the Iranian Resistance Units and rebellious youth carried out similar activities in various cities.

On March 16, Tehran’s Resistance Units installed big posters of Iranian Resistance leader Massoud Rajavi and the NCRI President Maryam Rajavi with the slogan: “Our beloved President”, “Khamenei, your days are numbered” and “Down with Khamenei, Viva Rajavi”.

In other places of Tehran, Chaharmahal & Bakhtiari, Mashhad, Karaj and Hamadan Resistance Units wrote slogans on the walls that reminded the regime’s role and responsibility in initiating and exacerbating the coronavirus crisis.

The rebellious and defiant youth in Tehran (Shahriar), Babol, Sari and Mashhad torched IRGC Basij bases. Basij, a subsidiary of the terrorist-designated Revolutionary Guards, is the Iranian regime’s paramilitary forces and the most hated suppressive group that is used to crackdown protests and demonstrations such as the November nationwide uprising.

They also burned signs of the Iranian regime’s economic foundation, Bonyad-e Shahid and posters and banners of Qassem Soleimani. Organizations like Bonyad-e Shahid have been looting the money and assets of the Iranian people for years and are among the key players in causing poverty and unemployment across Iran.

On March 14, the defiant and rebellious youth torched and burned on the Ministry of Justice HQ, the office of the criminal Alireza Avaei, who was involved in the massacre of political prisoners in 1988. They also burned posters of Ali Khamenei and Ruhollah Khomeini.

Similar activities were carried out on March 13 by the rebellious youth of Kuhdasht.

The burned the Iranian regime’s judiciary responsible for suppression and issuing inhumane punishments to innocent people across Iran.

On the same day, members of the Resistance Units in Isfahan wrote slogans on the wall of Maryam and Massoud Rajavi:

“Maryam Rajavi: The rising number of coronavirus victims is because of the regime’s cover-ups on the outbreak” and “Coronavirus outbreak is the guilt of Khamenei and the IRGC. Aim your anger at the regime instead.”
