Iran, December 31, 2020—The Iranian opposition network inside Iran continues its brave anti-regime activities, despite the atmosphere of fear and repression imposed by the regime.

In the center of Tehran, a huge poster of the Iranian Resistance leader Massoud Rajavi was installed. Such scenes are becoming more frequent across Iran thanks to the efforts of the Iranian Resistance Units, the growing network of activists supporting the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK).

In various places across the country, the Resistance Units organized campaigns for regime change and called for an end to the mullahs’ rule.

The Resistance Units wrote slogans against regime supreme leader Ali Khamenei on walls of different districts of major cities such as Tehran, Isfahan, Mashhad, Abadan, Eslamshahr, Babol, Karaj, Nain, and Mahmoudabad (Isfahan). “Down with Khamenei, hail to Rajavi,” one slogan read.

The Resistance Units, also installed images, posters, and messages of Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), echoing the slogans “The November 2019 protesters will continue until the overthrow of the mullahs’ regime,” “A new uprising is like fire under the ashes in the struggle of destiny for freedom of our country,” “Down with the rule of the mullahs,” “Down with the dictator,” and “Rise up to overthrow the mullahs’ regime.”

The Resistance Units played an important role in leading and organizing major protests in 2018 and 2019. Their activities aim to break the atmosphere of repression, and in recent years the creation and expansion of Resistance Units is a sign of readiness of Iran’s society for regime change. In their slogans, the Resistance Units constantly remind that another uprising is very near and the people of Iran are ready to topple the rule of the mullahs.

Also, in recent days, Iran’s rebellious and defiant youth targeted six Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) Basij bases, four in Tehran, one in Hamadan, and Sabzevar. These youth are carrying out these brave actions at a great risk to their lives, especially in Tehran, where the presence of security forces is particularly heavy.

These acts reflect the public hatred toward the Basij, the much-hated paramilitary force of the regime. The main role of the Basij is to preserve the mullahs’ rule at any cost, through repressive measures against protests and demonstrations. The Basij played a prominent role in quelling the November 2019 protests, in which security forces killed over 1,500 protesters in the span of a few days.

At the same time, the youth in Mahmoudabad (Isfahan) and Hamadan torched images of regime leaders including Khamenei and the regime’s death terror master Qassem Soleimani. These actions show the people’s rejection of the regime in its entirety and their utter hatred for all the regime’s officials.
