Feb. 11, 2019 – As supporters of the Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) rallied in Paris on Saturday to mark the 40th anniversary of the 1979 anti-monarchy revolution in Iran, they have proven once again how the Iranian people are relentlessly continuing their struggle for freedom and determined to topple the mullahs’ regime.
The world’s leading news agencies thousands of Iranians joined in Paris on the verge of the 40th anniversary of Iran’s 1979 revolution that overthrew the Shah regime. The Iranian opposition coalition National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) issued the call for this rally to commemorate that uprising and voice the demand of the Iranian people to overthrow the mullahs’ regime in Iran.
The participation of a large number of Iranian youth in this rally was a significant factor. This generation is completely in contrast to the very characteristics defining this regime, being misogynists and deeply involved in human rights violations. Youths and women have forever been the very nightmare of this regime. As a result, the Iranian regime has constantly placed these two sectors of Iran’s society under severe crackdown. In Friday’s demonstration, once again it was the women and youth who rallied to call for this regime’s overthrow.
In a more broader perspective, the participation of thousands of exiled Iranians in the NCRI demonstration sends a message of national solidarity around this organized opposition movement aiming to end the mullahs’ four decades of political, religious and gender apartheid.
Furthermore, the coverage provided by dozens of global and Middle East news agencies/media outlets for this demonstration, and the syndication of these reports across the globe, provide a very telling image of the NCRI’s political, social and international influence.
Holding such a massive rally on the doorsteps of the upcoming Warsaw conference sends a very clear message by Iranians to the international community, expressing their readiness to bring about sweeping changes in Iran and also demanding an end to the appeasement policy practiced vis-à-vis the Iranian regime as the world’s number one state sponsor of terrorism.
This large rally, parallel to widespread coverage provided by the global media demonstrating the NCRI’s organized capabilities, shows how even the slightest possibility of true political freedom in Iran would prove the practical solution for real change in Iran is procured through an organized resistance movement.
The Iranian people have once again voiced their will to the world on ending the Iranian regime’s support for terrorism across the Middle East. This includes ending crises in Syria, Yemen, Iraq and beyond. Peace and stability across the region can only be rendered through the toppling of the religious fascism ruling Iran.
Through this rally the Iranian people have shown once again how Iranian regime founder Khomeini and his mullahs’ regime hijacked the 1979 revolution. Despite this unspeakable treason, the Iranian people are reiterating the true message of the 1979 revolution being the cause of establishing freedom and democracy in Iran.
