Iran, September 30, 2020—As the regime ruling Iran continues to grip both domestic and international dilemmas, people from all walks of life are continuing to hold protest rallies across the country.
On Tuesday, September 29, workers of a sugar cube factory in the city of Mahabad, northwest Iran, went on strike, protesting the dismissal of their coworkers and demanding their delayed paychecks.
Family members of retired steel factory workers held a protest rally on Monday in front of the regime’s Interior Ministry building in Tehran, demanding officials address the issue of their delayed salaries.

On Tuesday, workers of the Ramin power plant in the city of Ahwaz, southeast Iran, continued their protest for achieving job security. These workers also are protesting the company’s transfer to the private sector. So far, 49 percent of the shares have been transferred to the private sector.
“If the power plant shares are sold, the company officials are obliged to pay the wages and address our other demands and rights, such as a 65 percent salary increase, bonuses granted to war-affected areas and housing subsidies,” said one of the workers of Ramin power plant on Monday.
“Many of the workers are contract workers, and reportedly all contract workers will be fired after the company’s transfer to the private sector,” he added.

On Sunday, September 27, a group of environmental activists, accompanied by the Nivan Nar village locals in the city of Golpayegan, Isfahan province, central Iran, blocked the path of heavy machinery and demanded a halt to the construction of an industrial dairy farm which is located five kilometers away from the village.
The capacity of this industrial farm would be 10,000 livestock, which will cause a major economic and environmental disaster. 1,500 people who live in this village are farmers and ranchers.
The construction of this dairy farm will cause economic disruption, widespread migration of the villagers and the destruction of pastures in these areas.
The sewage of this farm causes a bad smell and the mixture of its wastewater with surface and groundwater will cause many environmental problems that can endanger the public health of the entire city of Golpayegan.
