Friday prayer leaders express fear of MEK’s growing influence in Iran

Analysis by PMOI/MEK

Iran, July 22, 2019 – As we approach the anniversary of the National Liberation Army (NLA) "Eternal Light" operation in July 1988, which reminds Iran's regime of its imminent downfall, Friday prayer leaders, who reflect the views of regime supreme leader Ali Khamenei, express their panic of the current position of the NLA and the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK).

“When we accepted the UNSC Resolution 581 of the cease-fire with Iraq in 1988, while Iraq was supposed to fully retreat and abide by the resolution, the MEK launched its invasion," said Reza Khedri, Friday prayer leader in Chogadak.  "Today, the MEK continues its terrorist activities via the internet. There are some reports that more than 70% of the call to protests, the publication of riot videos, these are all the work of the MEK.”

Mullah Mousavi, Khamenei’s Friday prayer leader in the western city of Poldokhtar, said: “July 25, 1988, marks the 30th anniversary of the MEK's invasion of western cities of Sarpol-Zehab, Kerend and western Islam-Abad. They were delusional that they could shortly capture the Iranian capital. This operation is remembered by history and will be never forgotten by the political history of the world.”

Mullah Jokar, prayer leader of the city of Quds: “Today the MEK is willing to overthrow the establishment.
