MEK’s internal network call for commemoration of November 2019 protests

Reporting by PMOI/MEK

Iran, October 7, 2020—At the doorsteps of the anniversary of Iran’s nationwide November 2019uprisings, the internal network of the Iranian opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), known as the Iranian Resistance Units, organized various activities checkered across the country commemorating the martyrs fallen for freedom. The Resistance Units have dubbed November 15, 2019, the day protests began, as a national day of commemoration in Iran’s history.

On November 15, the regime tripled gasoline prices and sparked outrage across the country which quickly turned into anti-regime protests targeting mullahs’ rule. The regime’s suppressive forces gunned down 1,500 protesters in a couple of days. Despite the bloodshed, a year after the November 2019 protests—which MEK the Resistance Units were its driving force—are not over, not suppressed, and have become dangerous fire under the ashes.

In such a powder-keg situation of Iran’s society, despite the ongoing repression, arrests, and execution of protesters, MEK Resistance Units have continued to keep the spirit of Resistance very much alive and add momentum to the Iranian people’s desire to overthrow the regime in its entirety.

In recent days MEK Resistance Units have installed posters, banners, and images of Iranian Resistance leader Massoud Rajavi, and President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) Maryam Rajavi; and expand the call of anti-regime slogans for overthrowing the mullahs.

In addition to various districts of Tehran, MEK Resistance Units organized these activities in cities such as Shiraz, Isfahan, Mashhad, Nishapur, Ahvaz, Qom, Kerman, Urmia, Saveh, Karaj, Eslamshahr, Saqqez, Hamadan, Rasht, Doroud (Lorestan), and Lahijan.

Their slogans read:

“Be prepared for the anniversary of the November 2019 uprising which is a national day of commemoration in Iran’s history”

“November 15 is a national day of commemoration in Iran’s history ”

“In the name of the martyrs of the November 2019 nationwide protests, 80 million Iranians are ready to revolt, we are all together and this will be the last protest”

“We will overthrow the regime of the mullahs in its entirety”

“We will overthrow the regime and take back Iran”

“Freedom and victory are in our reach”

“Democracy and freedom with Maryam Rajavi”

“Down with Khamenei, hail to Maryam Rajavi”

“We can and we must overthrow the dictator”

Simultaneously, sites affiliated to the regime’s suppressive forces were targeted by the defiant and rebellious youths in the cities of Tehran, Kerman, Mashhad, Kazeroun, and Rasht,.

Several regime centers focusing on the spread of fundamentalism in Tehran, Kerman, and Kazeroun were also set on fire. These are headquarters used by the regime to spy on locals and to enforce the mullahs’ outdated teachings.

Two Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) bases in Mashhad have also been targeted. A video obtained from Mashhad shows the entrance of a Basij base set on fire by rebellious youth. The Basij, a subdivision of the IRGC, is the main force used in suppressing protests and imposing crackdown measures on people who refuse to abide by the mullahs’ fundamentalist laws that are much hated among the Iranian people.

Also, propaganda banners and images of regime officials, such as Qassem Soleimani, the now-dead mastermind of the regime terror machine, were torched in the cities of Tehran and Rasht.

In Tehran, these acts demand extreme courage, especially as the regime has beefed up its security forces across the capital in fear of new protests erupting. After five nationwide uprisings since the end of 2017, such measures against the regime’s suppressive centers have increased. Rebellious youth are particularly targeting the regime’s courts that issue death sentences for arrested protesters. On October 3, the rebellious youth of Khorramabad, a city in western Iran, targeted the General Prisons Administration of Lorestan province.
