MEK Resistance Units honor late Iranian artist Mohammad Reza Shajarian

Reporting by PMOI/MEK

Iran, October 14, 2020—The Iranian Resistance Units, the internal network of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), organized a vast anti-regime campaign in recent days checkered across the country, calling for the overthrowing of the mullahs’ regime.

Despite the regime’s increased repression and recent arrests, the Resistance Units bravely spread the slogans and messages of Iranian Resistance leader Massoud Rajavi and President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) Maryam Rajavi in various cities.

The Resistance Units also commemorated Mohammad Reza Shajarian, the legendary Iranian singer regime critic who died on Friday, October 9 in Tehran, and condemned the regime for preventing people from participating at his funeral.

With the anniversary of Iran’s November 2019 nationwide uprising approaching, the Resistance Units commemorated the martyrs of the protests by installing and holding their pictures. During the widespread demonstrations, security forces gunned down more than 1,500 civilians across Iran.

In addition to Tehran, these activities were carried out in cities such as Mashhad, Shiraz, Isfahan, Tus, Kermanshah, Urmia, Ahvaz, Sardasht, Eslamshahr, Esfarayen, Qazvin, Karaj, Kerman, Bandar Abbas, Lahijan, Gonbad Kavous, Khorramshahr, Ardabil, Mahshahr, Bushehr, Chaboksar, Hamadan, Rasht, Babol, Neka (Mazandaran), Sari, Bandar Anzali, Nishapur, and Sanandaj.

Their slogans read:

“The regime prevents people from going to Shajarian’s funeral to remember his eternal sound, but we will commemorate him face to face with the dictator”

“Dictators will die, but Shajarian will live forever.”

“We can and we must overthrow the dictator”

“Down with the dictator, hail to freedom”

“Down with the dictator Khamenei”

“Be prepared for the anniversary of the November 2019 uprising”

“Commemorate the martyrs of the November 2019 nationwide uprising”

“November 15 is a national and lasting day in Iran’s history”

“No to the Shah and the mullahs, the mullahs’ end is near”

“Down with dictators, be it the Shah or the Supreme Leader”

“The Supreme leader’s end is near”

“We will not forget Navid Afkari”

“Maryam Rajavi strives for justice and freedom”

Simultaneously, the rebellious and defiant youth targeted the regime’s suppressive centers in Qom, Karaj Eslamshahr (Tehran), Behbahan, and Mehrestan (Sistan & Baluchistan).

Three Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) Basij bases were targeted in Qom and Karaj. The Basij, a subdivision of the IRGC, is the main force used in suppressing protests and imposing crackdown measures on people who refuse to abide by the mullahs’ fundamentalist laws. Members and commanders of Basij are much hated among the Iranian people.

In Eslamshahr (Tehran), Behbahan, and Qom images of the regime Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei were torched by the defiant and rebellious youths.

In Mehrestan (Sistan & Baluchistan) and Behbahan, the young and brave generation torched posters of Qassem Soleimani, the now-dead mastermind of the regime’s terror machine. These acts of the younger generation are in defiance of Khamenei’s attempts to portray Soleimani as the symbol for a “young and Hezbollahi” government.

These acts also show the futility of the regime’s efforts to contain the explosive state of the society through suppression and executions. The rebellious youth and the Resistance Units continue to manifest their desire to overthrow the regime despite the environment of repression.
