MEK Resistance Units call for ouster of Khamenei as main cause of Iran’s COVID-19 crisis

Reporting by PMOI/MEK

Iran, April 18, 2020—On Friday, April 17, the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) announced that over 30,700 people have died of the novel coronavirus in 294 cities checkered across all of Iran’s 31 provinces. This is while the official death count declared by the regime is 4,958, less than a sixth of the actual figure.

The COVID-19 disaster and the increasing number of deaths in Iran is the direct result of the destructive policies adopted by the mullahs’ regime in Iran.

After three months of denial and cover-up, regime officials are now acknowledging that they knew about COVID-19 cases in Iran since January.

Therefore, the only solution is to fight the real virus which is the Iranian regime itself. Knowing this reality, the regime fears possible uprisings to mount and tries to use the coronavirus outbreak as an opportunity to maintain its hold on power as different segments of the society get poorer and suffer every day.

This is the reason that the brave and defiant youths of Iran and members the Iranian Resistance Units, a network of MEK activists across the country continued their activities, echoing the Iranian people’s will to overthrow the mullahs’ regime and their desire to live in a free, democratic and secular Iran. Their daily activities represent the will of the Iranian nation, and they risk their lives every day for regime change and the establishment of freedom, democracy, and peace.

On Friday April 17, the rebellious youth of Isfahan torched the IRGC Military Office of Electronic Services that is used for suppressing measures, while in Mashhad the brave youth burned images of the regime’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei.

Also on Friday, the members of the Resistance Units in Shiraz, Shahriar, Isfahan, Tabriz, Saveh, Qazvin, Tehran, Karaj, Kashan, Kazeroun and Mashhad installed huge banners of the Iranian resistance leaders, Maryam and Massoud Rajavi, and handwritten slogans on the walls that read: “The army of the poor must rebel & rise up.” They quoted Maryam Rajavi’s message: “For Khamenei & Rouhani, the lives & well-being of the people are worthless. They only want to protect their regime from the threat of uprising.”

On Thursday, April 16, various IRGC Basij bases, which are suppressive centers of the Iranian people during the harsh COVID-19 crisis, were torched by brave Iranian youths in Mashhad, Shahriar, Karaj. A large Iranian regime banner in Tehran was also set on fire.

On the same day, MEK Resistance Units in Tehran, Mashhad, Isfahan, Gorgan, Kerman, Qazvin, Khoramabad, Markazi Province and Sabzevar underlined the true desire of the Iranian people by quoting the Iranian Resistance leaders’ messages. In Tehran and Mashhad huge posters of Maryam and Massoud Rajavi were installed with their quotations:

Maryam Rajavi: “We will resist and fight the coronavirus and the ruling theocracy.”

Massoud Rajavi: “The rebellious will achieve victory”

In other cities, the Resistance Units emphasized that “Coronavirus outbreak is the guilt of the Iranian regime & mullahs” and chanted “Hail to Rajavi”

On Wednesday, April 16, several IRGC Basij bases in Lahijan, Shahrekord, and Kerman were torched by the rebellious youths. These bases are centers for suppression. Basij, a subsidiary of the terrorist-designated Revolutionary Guards, is the Iranian regime’s paramilitary force and the most hated suppressive group that is used to crack down on protests and demonstrations such as the November nationwide uprising. Also, the brave youth of Hamedan burned a huge banner of the regime.
