Iranian people slam the regime prior to elections

Reporting by PMOI/MEK

Iran, February 23, 2020—The Iranian regime did its utmost to bring as many people to its election polls. The result was an unprecedented nationwide election boycott. The regime acknowledged that no more than 42 percent participated in the election. “Statistics show that around 42 percent took part in the election for the 11th Majlis (parliament), which is 19 percent less than the previous round,” wrote the state-run Fars news agency on Sunday, February 23. However, while these statistics are far higher than actual numbers, it shows that the regime could not further escalate the rigged polls.

Following the Iranian people and MEK Resistance Units’ activities before the election could expose the election result even prior to the regime’s admission.

The Iranian people and rebellious youths expressed their will for boycotting the election by spreading messages of the Iranian Resistance President-elect Maryam Rajavi: “The Iranian people cast their vote in the November 2019 & January 2020 uprisings with chants of ‘Death to the principle of the velayat-e faqih.’”

They also wrote the slogan “My vote is the overthrow of the regime” on walls and the motto began trending across Iran.

PMOI/MEK Resistance Units also installed banners of Maryam Rajavi in the cities throughout the country, including Tehran, Borazjan, Kerman, Karaj, Tabriz, Rasht, Isfahan, and Ilam. They also wrote slogans in public places reading, “Iranians’ real vote is ‘Down with the rule of mullahs.’”

Resistance Units also further spread the word about slogans against the regime’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei. They also made it clear that they do not want a return to the rule of the monarchy that was overthrown by the people in 1979.

Following the Iranian people’s anti-election measures, rebellious youth in Koohdasht and Najafabad targeted two regime-associated centers involved in promoting the mullahs’ fundamentalism and their medieval ideology.
