Reporting by PMOI/MEK
Iran, June 14, 2020—The mullahs’ regime ruling Iran has been displaying a hysterical response vis-à-vis the wave of support and solidarity shown by the Iranian people with Marjan, the beloved and brave Iranian singer who recently passed away at the age of 71.
“Unfortunately, recently a number of celebrities, who have always been supported by the state yet have been displaying activities against the state and the people, have been lending support and expressing messages of condolences regarding the death of a corrupt hypocrite (a term used by the regime when referring to members and supporters of the Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran, PMOI/MEK). This has saddened the hearts of revolutionary people and family members of our martyrs,” reads a piece published on June 13 in the Fars news agency, an outlet affiliated directly to the regime’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC). “The revolutionary people and family members of our martyrs, especially those who have been assassinated, call on the judiciary to take serious action against these so-called artists. These supporters of the hypocrites, who seek to portray victims as murderers and vice versa, should be prosecuted and punished,” the piece adds.
Keyhan daily, known as the mouthpiece of Iranian regime Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, has been focusing its efforts to force celebrities inside Iran to publicly criticize and condemn the PMO/MEK.
Websites affiliated to the IRGC and the regime’s notorious Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) wrote different pieces citing a fake publication of the PMOI/MEK’s “Mojahed” newspaper.
“Following news of Marjan’s death, singers, actors and actresses who played in movies made prior to the 1979 revolution, members of the [PMOI/MEK], and a large number of Iranian celebrities sent many messages of condolences on social media.
“It's interesting that following this publication in the [MEK] newspaper, and following pressures from public opinion, [celebrities] have attempted to distance themselves by saying they did not know of [Marjan’s] ties with the [MEK] and claim innocence in this regard. These claims are considered illegitimate and even worse than the initial crime. It would be strange that such famous faces on social media, who never lose a moment to voice their opinions about social issues, are not able to do a simple search regarding this Farsi film actress and [MEK] sympathizer,” according to the Sarat24 website.
Following an outburst of social support and solidarity with Marjan, the MOIS posted a fake publication of the MEK’s newspaper dated June 8, 2019 (which it quickly changed to June 7, 2020) to pressure artists and force them to voice positions against the MEK after expressing condolences regarding Marjan’s passing. It is worth noting that the MEK’s ‘Mojahed’ newspaper has not been published for quite some time now.

A message from Iranian opposition President Maryam Rajavi, head of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), was delivered at the ceremony.
