Iranian regime president mocked over nuclear deal comments

Analysis by PMOI/MEK

Iran, Aug. 9, 2019 – The state-run newspaper Javan, affiliated with the Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), mocked the speech of regime President Hassan Rouhani during his visit to the Foreign Ministry following the sanctioning of Tehran’s top diplomat Mohammad Javad Zarif as "Praising the nuclear deal at its funeral."

Javan wrote, “Rouhani once more attacked the critics of the moribund nuclear deal and presented himself and his two-term government as heroes who have conquered the world with their nuclear deal. A deal (known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action – JCPOA) from which the U.S. withdrew over a year ago and the Europeans, despite their written and oral commitments, did nothing about. Rouhani, who was at the nuclear deal’s funeral, showed-off the hollow achievements of the nuclear deal to the previous negotiators.”

The state-run Resalat newspaper called Rouhani’s speech “the bragging of a loser” and wrote, “For the 1,000th time! The nuclear deal was supposed to waive sanctions, not to cover-up the government’s incapacity…. We advise you not to brag about it anymore.”
