Iran: Embarrassing show for mullahs as people boycott regime rally

Iran, Feb. 11, 2019 – Monday marked the 40th anniversary of the 1979 anti-monarchy revolution hijacked by Khomeini and the mullahs’ regime. Delivering a speech on this occasion, Iranian regime President Hassan Rouhani boasted about the mullahs’ ballistic missile capabilities.

“Iran will not reevaluate its missile program. The Islamic republic will continue building various anti-armor missiles, surface-to-air missiles, surface-to-surface and surface-to-sea missiles, and a variety of air to air missiles, and will never request permission from anyone,” Rouhani said in an attempt to save face in response to crippling sanctions and relentless protests across the country.

“We will continue the same path and military power. Our military might has been amazing for the world during the past 40 years, especially the past five years. From our military and defensive industry, our missiles, warplanes, helicopters and destroyers, submarines, armored personnel carriers and personal weapons and whatever our armed forces need. These have all been amazing,” he said.

These claims made by Rouhani are very similar to those of the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC). Coinciding with Rouhani’s boasting, reports from cities throughout the country indicate the public largely boycotted the regime’s farce rallies. Most of the locals in Tehran and surrounding areas went to the country’s north for recreational purposes.

Colonel Nader Rahmani, head of the state police’s Traffic Control Center reported heavy traffic on the highway heading north, leading to a clogged highway for about 8 miles.
