Iranian regime officials terrified of ticking unemployment time-bomb

Analysis by PMOI/MEK

Iran, Aug. 15, 2019 – Millions of Iranian youth suffer from an exacerbating unemployment crisis. In this regard, the National Statistic Center of Iran declared the unprecedented number of two million unemployed.

The Iranian economy is on the verge of collapse, and unemployment among young people is increasing and turning to a crisis. There are several reasons why the unemployment rate has reached its peak. The first reason is the decrease in wages that forces Iranians to leave their jobs since their pay can’t cover the costs of living. The second reason is the escalating part-time jobs. And third is the downgrade of investment and purchase power that have caused Iranian factories to fire workers at large scale.

The unemployment rate terrifies the regime’s authorities and it is a time bomb that might explode any second. Therefore, the Iranian regime has increased the security level and is oppressing freedom of the press more than before in a futile bid to maintain its power.
