Iran, July 25, 2019 – On Monday, during the Iranian regime's Majlis (parliament) session, members warned the entire regime of possible consequences resulting from a series of dilemmas such as the water crisis, dire agricultural situation, and governmental corruption.
Hedayat Khatami:
“Our district [Khuzestan province] struggles with a water crisis, the Karun River runs through our villages and sections for more than 200km. However, we do not have potable and agricultural water. If you don’t give us Karun’s water, the mafia controlling water is responsible for possible conflicts with our brothers. Parents can’t afford their living conditions. Homelessness, poverty, and depression is on the rise. Our society is divided to classes between the rich and the poor. In the capital city of Tehran, one can’t have a decent life without a 70-80 million rial monthly income.”
Hamze Amini:
“Still there are no roads to villages in Hashtrood and Charooymagh, let alone asphalted highways. Out of 466 villages in Hashtrood, only 70 of them don’t have shortage of water during summer. The rest are dealing with the water crisis.”
