“One in every ten people who are hospitalized of Covid-19 and one in every two people placed in ICU are dying. Nine in every ten people who undergo Tracheal intubation end up dead,” said Deputy Health Minister Iraj Harirchi on Wednesday, according to the state-run Hamshahri daily.

According to the semi-official ISNA news agency, in the past month, Fars province has experienced an “increase in hospitalized cases, patients in critical conditions, Covid-19 deaths.” ISNA further wrote: “Some days, the number of admitted patients is greater than the predicted number of beds needed. The increase in the number of patients requires specialized care and hospitalization in the ICU. This has resulted in an increase in the number of deaths. Some days there have been up to 20 deaths.”

The spokesperson of Isfahan Medical Sciences University said that, aside from the counties of Kashan, Aran, and Bidgol, there were 17 registered Covid-19 deaths on August 25, according to Aftab News. “There are 193 patients in ICU. Since August 18, spread of coronavirus in Isfahan has increased with a steep slope, which is alarming,” the spokesperson added.

The provincial governor of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer Ahmad described released coronavirus patients in Yasuj as “expanding bombs,” according to an August 26 report by Tasnim News Agency, affiliated with the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) Quds Force.

The deputy dean of Zanjan Medical Sciences University said, “To provide needs and increase the number of beds in hospitals, we need help from the people and charity donors. The biggest worry is the situation of the coronavirus outbreak in the cold season. We expect hard days in the fall and winter.” (Source: ISNA news agency, August 26)

Regime president Hassan Rouhani outrageously lied again today, saying, “Find one place in the world where coronavirus treatment is free. Coronavirus treatment in this country is free for our own people as well as immigrants living in our country. At the peak of the coronavirus outbreak, there were beds for people who needed to be hospitalized due to reasons other than coronavirus. Medicine is being produced!”

Rouhani uttered these lies while on August 9, the state TV quoted Iraj Harirchi, the deputy health minister, as saying, “When doctors prescribe medication with 10-million and 50-million [toman] price tags, it only creates a syndrome of envy in the poor, because they can’t procure the medicine. This turns into hatred and at another time it will explode… it will cause protests, unrests. There will be costs.”

On July 16, the state-run Asr-e Iran website quoted Harirchi as saying that after the coronavirus outbreak, healthcare costs for urban families has risen from 3.7 to 8 percent. “In rural families, the costs have risen from 4.9 to 12.9 percent,” Harirchi added.

Javan Daily, another state-run newspaper, wrote on August 3: “Patients in Tehran were in hospital parking lots with oxygen capsules, waiting for hospital beds to be freed. According to some patients, the wait time extends to three days at times. Health ministry authorities and heads of hospitals are speaking of hospital beds being completely filled and patients staying in the emergency section and waiting for beds to be freed.”
