Iran, October 19, 2021—Over 460,200 people have died of the novel coronavirus in 547 cities checkered across all of Iran’s 31 provinces, according to reports tallied by the Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) as of Tuesday afternoon local time, October 19. The official death toll declared by the regime stands at 124,423 around a fourth of the actual figure.

The coronavirus death toll in various provinces include: 107,756 in Tehran, 37,750 in Razavi Khorasan, 31,240 in Isfahan, 28,215 in Khuzestan, 16,858 in West Azerbaijan, 16,705 in Fars, 12,950 in Sistan & Baluchistan, 12,605 in Qom, 12,282 in Kerman, 8608 in Hamedan, 8418 in Markazi (Central), 8389 in Kermanshah, 5874 in North Khorasan, 4393 in Ilam, and 3971 in South Khorasan. “Concerning circumstances are in the making. We are worried about the sixth peak and, God forbid, it being more dangerous than the fifth peak,” said the head of the Health Ministry’s network on Tuesday, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime's Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS). Stats from West Azerbaijan, Kermanshah, and Yazd provinces are rising, this official added.

“Yesterday’s meaningful difference between the number of new cases and those who have recovered indicates that the possibility of a sixth peak establishing has risen… and currently the number of new cases per day in the provinces of Yazd, Kermanshah, and East Azerbaijan are on the rise and causing concerns,” according to a report wired today by the Tasnim news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) Quds Force.

“Herd immunity is established when at least two vaccine doses are applied to at least 70 percent of the population. We are far from reaching this threshold. A 100 percent cancellation of remote working regulations means we are welcoming the sixth wave with open arms,” said a member of the regime’s parliamentary Health Commission on Tuesday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“We expected to have 1000 to 1500 volunteers per day. However, we have only reached 100 and are currently planning to stop production. If we do produce, who are we to provide our vaccine to? Even the Health Ministry has taken no measures based on their pledge to pre-purchase our vaccine,” said the director of the state-run Fakhra vaccine project on Tuesday, according to the semi-official ILNA news agency.

“During the past 24 hours 756 new patients have been registered and 18 have lost their lives,” said the dean of West Azerbaijan Medical Sciences University on Tuesday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“Ilam is one of the provinces where an increase in the number of new cases and those being hospitalized in the past seven days has been completely obvious. This indicates we are heading towards a sixth peak,” said the deputy dean of Ilam Medical Sciences University on Tuesday, according to the Mehr news agency.

“During the past 24 hours 337 new cases were registered and ten coronavirus patients lost their lives. The medical staff is extremely fatigued and most certainly a new peak in [Markazi] province will have dire consequences,” said the dean of Markazi Medical Sciences University on Tuesday, according to the Tasnim news agency.

“The coronavirus alarm bell has sounded, and we are on the verge of a sixth peak. The number of victims has risen. Around 40 percent of the PCR tests are positive,” according to a report wired on Tuesday by the regime’s official IRIB news agency.

“During the past 24 hours 289 new patients have been hospitalized and 17 lost their lives. 1457 patients across [Isfahan] province are hospitalized, of which 283 are in ICUs,” according to a statement released on Tuesday by the Isfahan Medical Sciences University.
