Reporting by PMOI/MEK

Iran, August 9, 2021—Over 354,100 people have died of the novel coronavirus in 547 cities checkered across all of Iran’s 31 provinces, according to reports tallied by the Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) as of Monday afternoon local time, August 9. The official death toll declared by the regime stands at 94,603, around a fourth of the actual figure.

The coronavirus death toll in various provinces include: 83,046 in Tehran, 23,890 in Isfahan, 22,381 in Khuzestan, 21,665 in Razavi Khorasan, 13,720 in Mazandaran, 13,145 in Lorestan, 12,773 in West Azerbaijan, 12,222 in Fars, 11,471 in Gilan, 10,415 in Qom, 10,370 in Sistan & Baluchistan, 10,368 in Alborz, 8868 in Kerman, 8360 in Golestan, 7283 in Hamedan, 7093 in Markazi (Central), 6192 in Yazd, 6105 in Hormozgan, 5772 in Kurdistan, 5550 in Semnan, 4839 in North Khorasan, 4084 in Bushehr, 3740 in Zanjan, and 2704 in Kohgiluyeh & Boyer Ahmad. This is in addition to reports obtained from other provinces.

The regime’s Health Ministry announced the mullahs’ engineered Covid-19 numbers from the past 24 hours on Monday as 588 deaths (new pandemic record) and 40,808 new cases (new pandemic record). Regime President Ebrahim Raisi and other mullahs are encouraging people to participate in upcoming religious ceremonies. All the while, head of the emergency branch in Tehran’s Sina Hospital said on Monday, “Those who say we will definitely hold the upcoming annual Moharram religious ceremonies need to say in which verse of the Quran has it stated that we can send people to their deaths? Some of these people are senior officials. If the status quo remains as is, we will witness the sixth wave following the Moharram religious ceremonies.” (state-run Rudad24 website)

“The Health Ministry has crumbled, and the health apparatus has been left on its own. The number of people hospitalized is three times the actual capacity, and we have less than 1.5 nurses for each 1,000 of our population,” said the secretary general of Iran’s House of Nurses on Sunday. “ICUs in all hospitals have reached their capacity limits and at times a nurse has to provide medical care to four coronavirus patients. Conditions would be better if we didn’t have a Health Ministry. A group of people in the Health Ministry are only seeking to make profits. Vaccination is the only method to prevent this. However, even that is taking place at an extremely slow pace,” this official added, according to the state-run Tejarat News daily.

“Today we broke our record in the number of new cases and daily deaths. Will those who issued statements banning the import of vaccines provide any answers?” asked the head of the regime’s Medical Apparatus Organization on Monday, according to the state-run Hamshahri daily.

“Currently we have more than 10,600 people hospitalized. All the beds are filled with patients… patients are held waiting in emergency beds, and beds become available based on the number of patients released and those who lose their lives,” said Nader Tavakoli, deputy chair of the Tehran Covid-19 Task Force on Monday, according to the Tasnim news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) Quds Force.

“100 temporary medical centers have been established and 1500 emergency beds have been activated,” said Alireza Zali, head of the Tehran Covid-19 Task Force on Monday, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime's Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

“We now have 2000 patients hospitalized and 38 people lost their lives during the past 24 hours,” said the deputy dean of Gilan Medical Sciences University on Monday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“Since the beginning of this pandemic more than 3200 locals of Rasht have lost their lives,” said the mayor of this city on Monday, according to the Mehr news agency.

There are currently 3983 coronavirus patients hospitalized in Mazandaran province, of which 417 are in ICUs, according to a statement released by the Mazandaran and Babol Medical Sciences universities on Monday.

“Currently we have 700 patients hospitalized on a daily basis, and the total number of patients hospitalized has surpassed the 3000 mark. Conditions are extremely dire,” according to a Monday statement released by the Mashhad Medical Sciences University.

“The number of patients hospitalized who are under the age of 15 has increased by 180 percent. On August 6 alone we had 22 minors hospitalized in Amir Kabir University of Arak,” said the dean of Arak Medical Sciences University on Monday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“The number of coronavirus patients entering our hospitals is increasing exponentially. In comparison to last week the number of new cases, those hospitalized, and deaths have increased 70, 60, and 77 percent, respectively,” said the dean of Ahvaz Medical Sciences University.

“4480 people are hospitalized across [Fars] province. We have lost 30 patients to coronavirus during the past 24 hours,” said the dean of Shiraz Medical Sciences University on Monday, according to the Mehr news agency.
