“For us to say we will not have a fifth peak is an incorrect statement because it has been two months since the Indian, New Yorker and African variants have entered the country,” said Health Minister Saied Namaki in East Azerbaijan province on Monday, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime's Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

“Everything fell apart once again when the Delta variant entered the country. Previously in the southern parts of the country they had to stop it where it started, and prevent it from spreading,” said Minoo Mohraz, a senior member of the National Covid-19 Task Force on Sunday. “They need to come to the hospitals, the ICUs, the branches inside the hospitals to see what is going on. You cannot simply make plans for the entire country sitting behind computers and looking at graphs… They have provided 400,000 doses of the Barekat vaccine, but I do not know where they are using these vaccines because no one knows? Everyone asks where are the vaccines, and why are they lying?” she added, according to the state-run Hamshahri daily.

“Some of the dead have received official vaccination text messages,” according to the Mizan news agency, linked to the regime’s judiciary, on Monday. One state-run daily cited a witness saying, “To this day the Health Ministry has invited my deceased mother five times for vaccination.”

“The first subject that was emphasized in today’s session was the high alert status for more hospital beds and increasing the number of ambulances to transfer coronavirus patients to medical centers,” said Alireza Zali, head of the Tehran Covid-19 Task Force on Monday. “We also need to increase the number of medical centers to accept people who seek medical care for Covid-19 symptoms… In the past 24 hours the number of such patients has reached 13,000 while it was around 10,000 to 11,000 the day before. We had 1395 patients hospitalized in the past 24 hours, of which 243 were sent to ICUs. The total number of people hospitalized for coronavirus stands at 5400,” he added, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

Mohammad Reza Hashemian, an ICU expert at Tehran’s renowned Masih Daneshvari Hospital, made startling remarks on Monday about recent blackouts and their impact on patients losing their lives. “The Health Ministry did not announce the precise reason behind coronavirus deaths. This is among the Health Ministry’s classified secrets that will never be made public under any circumstances. During the period when electricity goes out and when ventilators are up and running again, the possibility of patients losing their lives increases significantly and we have a catastrophe on our hands. I have said this time and again that the Health Ministry refuses to publish the details behind Covid-19 deaths,” he explained, according to the state-run Tejarat News website.

“Ever since early April to this day we have witnessed an increasing trend of patients seeking initial medical care and during the past five weeks we have seen this trend gain momentum,” said the Health Ministry spokesperson on Monday. “Positive tests have reached 60 percent and the increasing number of patients being hospitalized may result in grave difficulties in the coming days,” she added, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

Despite all these measures the health minister said on Monday that the problems in Sistan & Baluchistan province have been exaggerated. “Not only coronavirus patients, but head trauma patients are not left without receiving medical care,” he added, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“Bushehr province is in critical coronavirus conditions. The number of people being hospitalized on a daily basis has increased by 20 percent and currently we have 411 patients hospitalized across our hospitals,” said the dean of Bushehr Medical Sciences University on Monday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“We are witnessing an increasing trend of new patients. Currently there are 1473 people hospitalized, of which 178 are in ICUs,” said the director of public relations in Shiraz Medical Sciences University on Monday, according to the Mehr news agency.
