“During the past week, the number of patients seeking initial medical care for Covid-19 rose by 13.2 percent. This week we have seen an 11 percent increase in the number of patients hospitalized, and a 7.2 percent increase in the number of people who have died of coronavirus,” said the spokesperson of the regime’s Ministry of Health on Sunday. “Last week Sistan & Baluchistan province witnessed the highest death toll, far above the national average. Then we had the Yazd and Hormozgan provinces that ranked second and third in the number of deaths. The crisis seen in Sistan & Baluchistan province is unprecedented since the beginning of this pandemic, and the current wave will be longer and far beyond the previous waves,” she added, according to the state-run Hamshahri daily.

“The main entity responsible to control coronavirus in Iran is the government. During the past 16 months the government and the Health Ministry have failed in their duties and not been successful in controlling the virus,” said a member of the National Covid-19 Task Force on Sunday. “With the continuation of such measures and behavior one comes to believe there was a deliberate nature. To this day no serious quarantine measures have been imposed across the country or Tehran. Lack of follow ups and control of coronavirus in our country has become deliberate. People cannot wait until the domestic vaccine reaches mass production, and the government must immediately procure approved vaccines. Otherwise, we will lose many lives,” this official added, according to the Jahan-e San’at daily.

“The number of Iranians that are travelling to Armenia to receive the coronavirus vaccine is extremely high. All flights from Iran to or from Armenia have been nearly full of passengers,” said the chair of the Iran-Armenia Chamber of Commerce on Sunday, according to the semi-official ILNA news agency.

“We are seeing a 15 percent increase in the number of people hospitalized and those seeking initial medical care for Covid-19,” said Nader Tavakoli, deputy char of the Tehran Covid-19 Task Force on Sunday. “103 hospitals across the province are engaged in providing medical care for coronavirus patients and we have 1000 people hospitalized per day. There are currently 4800 people hospitalized across the province,” he added, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.

“Tehran has entered the fifth peak because we currently have 470 people entering the hospital on a daily basis,” said a senior official of Tehran’s renowned Masih Daneshvari Hospital on Sunday. “The months of May and June provided the best opportunity for vaccination, and we lost our chance,” this official adds, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime's Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

The Tasnim news agency, an outlet linked to the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) Quds Force, published an article on Sunday titled martial law in Sistan & Baluchistan province. The limitations imposed in downtown areas and markets in recent days has turned Zahedan into a ghost town. People are forced into their homes, expect those who are in the services, medical care and military. Stress levels are exceedingly high, along with concerns and criticism targeting the Covid-19 Task Force. These are the main topics of discussion among locals here. Each person expresses their fears, concerns, criticism and complains in unique fashion. And there is some serious criticism targeting the Crisis Management Task Force and the Covid-19 Task Force in Sistan & Baluchistan province, the Saturday piece adds, according to the Tasnim news agency.

In Hormozgan the governor of this province in southern Iran said on Sunday that ten cities are registered as red zones and more than 810 patients are hospitalized across the province. Hormozgan has the highest number of patients hospitalized due to this illness and unfortunately the number of people dying of Covid-19 in Hormozgan province has increased, according to the semi-official ILNA news agency.

“The only concern in the eastern parts of [Kerman] province is the shortage in hospital beds. If the number of people who need to be hospitalized increases, we will be out of beds. Back in June we had 936 positive cases per day. Unfortunately, we have reached 1022 new cases today,” said the dean of Kerman Medical Sciences University on Sunday, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.

“The number of patients hospitalized has surpassed 500, of which 98 are in ICUs. Six cities across the province are registered as red zones,” said the deputy dean of Yazd Medical Sciences University on Sunday, according to the Mehr news agency.
