“During the past week we have had a ten percent increase in the number of people hospitalized and those seeking initial medical care for coronavirus symptoms. And of course, the death rate will change with some delay,” said Nader Tavakoli, deputy chair of Tehran Covid-19 Task Force on Wednesday. “It has been one week that we have entered the fifth Covid-19 peak. During the past 24 hours around 1000 people have been hospitalized and 6400 have sought medical attention for coronavirus symptoms. In total we have 4400 people hospitalized across Tehran. If this increasing trend continues until next week Tehran itself will be registered as a red zone area,” he added, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“We are on the verge of entering the fifth peak. If quick actions are not taken, we will soon be facing the Indian variant spreading across the country. In addition to being far more powerful in transferring to other people, it will be resistant against vaccines,” said a senior Tehran health official on Wednesday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

Dean of Zahedan Medical Sciences University said the province of Sistan & Baluchistan is in hyper-crisis mode and they have yet to reach the peak of this wave, according to a Wednesday report wired by the regime’s official IRNA news agency. Wednesday and Thursday all administrative offices and banks will be closed, according to the governorate. The public prosecutor in Zahedan said on Wednesday that this province needs urgent attention. Otherwise, “a death tsunami will spread from Sistan & Baluchistan into all of Iran,” this official added, according to the state-run Hamshahri daily.

“Of ten cities and towns in Bushehr province nine are registered as red zones,” said the secretariat of the Bushehr Covid-19 Task Force on Wednesday. “From this day forward, commuting will be banned in these cities,” said the dean of Bushehr Medical Sciences University on Wednesday, according to the Tasnim news agency, linked to the regime’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) Quds Force.

“Of the 23 cities in Kerman province, nine are registered as red zones, ten are orange, and four are yellow. The [Kerman] province is witnessing a coronavirus peak for the fifth time, with areas one after another being registered as red. It is possible that conditions will deteriorate next week,” according to a Wednesday piece wired by the Tasnim news agency.

“15 cities and towns across the province are registered as yellow areas. Isfahan may be registered as a red zone considering the beginning of the fifth peak,” said the spokesperson for the Isfahan Covid-19 Task Force on Wednesday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“Five cities across the province are about to be registered as orange zones, while the city of Amol has become a red zone. The current circumstances are poor,” said the deputy dean of Babol Medical Sciences University on Wednesday on Wednesday, according to the regime’s official IRIB news agency.

“The increase in the number of patients being hospitalized and those seeking initial medical care for Covid-19 are signs of entering the fifth peak,” said the dean West Azerbaijan Medical Sciences University on Tuesday, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.
