Stats announced by the regime’s Health Ministry indicate the number of people contracting Covid-19 is on the rise yet again and this can be an alarm bell suggesting the country is entering a fifth peak, according to a Friday report wired by the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime's Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

“The fifth coronavirus peak will be upon us soon. The virus, with a new variant, be it the Indian or South African, has increased,” said a member of the National Covid-19 Task Force on Friday, according to the state-run Shafaqna news agency.

The Health Ministry’s Public Relations office said people in the country’s main laboratories are selling negative coronavirus test results. “Paying ten to 15 million rials ($42 to $63) at the Iran-Iraq border, any driver can purchase negative test results… passengers of foreign flights are seeking forged documents of negative test results,” according to a Friday piece wired by the state-run Aria news agency.

While signs indicate the fifth coronavirus peak is on its way, state-run media are reporting Ebrahim Raisi—a candidate in the regime’s shame presidential election who is best known for his direct role in the 1988 massacre of over 30,000 political prisoners—delivered a speech at an election rally in Ahvaz without social distancing protocols.

“One of our concerns is health protocols being violated during the elections. In this regard we have been advised to be on alert for a possible limited peak,” said the head of Tehran’s Sina Hospital on Friday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“Election meetings and rallies held these days are impacting our coronavirus management measures. If circumstances stand as they are Mazandaran province will enter a fifth peak in the coming two weeks. The decreasing trend of people being hospitalized for coronavirus has nearly come to a halt in the past few days and even increased,” according to a statement released on Friday by the Mazandaran Medical Sciences University’s Public Relations Office.

“On Thursday we had a new record of 12 coronavirus deaths in one day in Hormozgan province. The total count in this province stands at 1333. Currently all cities and towns in Hormozgan province are in poor conditions. However, the cities of Bandar Abbas, Minab, Jask, Bandar Lengeh, and to some extent Qeshm are in worse conditions in comparison to other cities and towns,” said the spokesperson of Hormozgan Medical Sciences University on Friday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“Starting Friday there will be no vaccination in all vaccine centers. When new vaccine doses arrive, these centers will restart their work,” according to a statement released Friday by Qom Medical Sciences University.
