“Eight cities in the country’s south and southeast areas are registered as red zones and we are concerned about this because a decreasing trend has not been seen in these areas. Furthermore, it is possible that the Indian and African variants have entered the country from the south and southeast provinces,” said Deputy Health Minister Iraj Harirchi on Tuesday, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.

“The fifth coronavirus wave is on its way. The country’s eastern borders are vulnerable and with the Indian variant entering the country we will be facing many difficulties. The government should not be careless regarding the Indian variant’s entrance,” said the chair of the regime’s Majlis (parliament) Health Committee on Tuesday, according to the state-run ANA news agency.

“One of the difficulties witnessed during the Covid-19 pandemic has been the shortage in oxygen tanks… We didn’t think there would be [electricity] blackout that can endanger the patients’ lives,” said the director of public relations in the regime’s Medicine Apparatus Organization on Tuesday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“Iran ranks 12th in the world in coronavirus deaths. 11 percent of the annual deaths have been due to Covid-19, and this is higher than the global average. In 2020 around five percent of the 60 million deaths across the globe were due to coronavirus,” according to a Tuesday piece published in the state-run Hamshahri daily.

“We are witnessing an increase in daily coronavirus deaths in [Hormozgan] province. Five cities are registered as red zones and it is possible that other areas will be changed to red zones. On Sunday we saw a 100 percent increase in the number of people hospitalized for Covid-19 double in comparison,” said the spokesperson of Hormozgan Medical Sciences University

“The stats indicate an increasing number of people hospitalized in the city of Dashti. This once again sounds the coronavirus alarm bell [in Bushehr province],” according to a Tuesday report wired by the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime's Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

“Nine cities in Razavi Khorasan registered as orange zones are the most densely populated areas of this province. Around 200 people per day are being hospitalized for coronavirus,” said the deputy dean of Mashhad Medical Sciences University on Tuesday, according to the Fars news agency, an outlet linked to the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC).
