“On April 15 we had 14,800 people seek medical care for Covid-19 symptoms while the highest such figure in previous periods was registered at a maximum of 12,000. Today in Tehran province alone we hospitalized 1775 new coronavirus patients. This is a large number which included more than 250 placed in ICUs,” said Alireza Zali, head of the Tehran Covid-19 Task Force said on Tuesday. “In Tehran we had a new record of having a total of 7400 coronavirus patients hospitalized. During the worst days of November 2020, we never reached the 7000 mark,” he added, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.

“We have nearly 8500 hospitalized coronavirus patients. Elective and unnecessary patients are not accepted, and unnecessary surgeries are not being conducted,” said Nader Tavakoli, deputy chair of the Tehran Covid-19 Task Force on Tuesday. “All our beds are being allocated to coronavirus patients and emergency cases. The number of people seeking medical care for Covid-19 symptoms has doubled, which is not good. The hospitals, including state, private and general hospitals are all engaged and nearly 100 hospitals across Tehran are involved in providing medical care for Covid-19 patients. All ICU beds in Tehran are being used, and as much as possible we have been equipping ordinary beds to provide more temporary ICU beds,” he added, according to the state-run Aria news agency.

“The numbers of coronavirus patients and deaths are increasing. Nearly one third of the Covid-19 deaths are from Tehran and neighboring cities. This is not good. If conditions worsen there will be no room in the morgues,” said Reza Karami, head of the Tehran City Council Crisis Prevention and Management Organization on Tuesday, according to the state-run Asr-e Iran daily.

“2419 coronavirus patients are currently hospitalized across [Isfahan] province, aside from the cities of Kashan and Aran & Bidgol, of which 368 are in ICUs. The public relations director of this university said on Tuesday that 24 people had lost their lives to coronavirus in the past 24 hours, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime's Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).
