“The week that began on Saturday is a difficult week. Last week was also difficult. This week will be even more difficult. Many of the provinces that we saw today are in the wave and heading towards higher numbers,” said regime President Hassan Rouhani on Friday. “Many other provinces are heading for an even higher peak. Some are less,” he added. Prior to his remarks the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS), issued its latest evaluation on Saturday of the number of coronavirus patients hospitalized, indicating there are 63 cities and towns registered as black zones, and 85 registered as red zones.

“The Covid-19 spread across the country is catastrophic. All the Covid-19 beds have been filled with patients and the death toll is increasing tremendously. The only solution is to impose a full lockdown and remain at home,” said Masoud Mardani, a member of the National Covid-19 Task Force on Saturday.

“There is no unified and strong strategy to contain Covid-19. Even if general vaccination is reached, until there are different policies implemented the coronavirus situation will remain as is. Meaning the country being designated as a red zone and some cities and towns as black zones,” said a member of the regime’s Majlis (parliament) Health Committee on Saturday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“A number of directors and members of the Abadan City Council have placed their names among the city’s municipality workers to be vaccinated. The dean of the local medical school confirmed this report, adding the vaccination was carried out based on a list provided by municipality officials and people were difficult to identify due to the use of masks,” according to a state TV report on Friday.

“With hospitals in Dezful reaching their full capacity, this city is now in a state of emergency. There is the smell of death in Dezful and there are death announcements put up everywhere across the city, including the young and old,” according to a Saturday report issued by the Mehr news agency. “All cases of Covid-19 in Dezful are of the mutated UK strain, according to the deputy dean of Dezful Medical School. The dean of this school says 14 branches of this large hospital have been allocated to coronavirus patients and more than 160 patients need to be hospitalized. Due to the shortage in hospital beds, they are providing medical care and forced to send people to rest at home,” the Mehr report adds.

“The number of deaths has increased by 30 percent in comparison to three weeks ago, and the number of people hospitalized has increased by 50 percent. Nearly all the beds in the Shahidzadeh and Social Security hospitals are filled with patients,” said the dean of Behbahan Medical School on Saturday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“In March we had an average of 60 people hospitalized. Now that figure stands at 450, indicating a nine-time increase in the number of people hospitalized across the city of Bushehr,” said the dean of Bushehr Medical Sciences University on Saturday, according to the state-run Hamshahri daily.

Deputy dean of Fars Medical Sciences University is calling for a full lockdown in the city of Shiraz. “With the current circumstances we have to witness an increasing number of Covid-19 cases among the people. To this day 2400 beds have been allocated to coronavirus patients,” this official added on Saturday, according to the Mehr news agency.

“28 coronavirus patients have lost their lives in the 48 hours. During this period 586 people have tested positive, of which 121 were hospitalized,” said the dean of Markazi Medical Sciences University on Saturday, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.

“No one is listening despite all our warnings and letters. In Qom there is a factory constantly producing coronavirus patients. All the hospital beds and ICUs in Beheshti and Amir Almomenin hospitals are full of patients. 90 percent of the cases are of the mutated UK strain,” said the dean of Qom Medical Sciences University on Saturday, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.

“Among all the provinces Qom has the highest rising number of new cases,” said the deputy governor of this province on Saturday, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.

“The total number of coronavirus patients hospitalized stands at 1424 while this figure was at 480 on March 21. We have 210 coronavirus patients in ICUs and 15 people lost their lives in the past 24 hours,” said the deputy dean of Mashhad Medical Sciences University on Saturday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“In the past 24 hours we have had 110 patients with Covid-19 symptoms hospitalized. The total number of Covid-19 patients hospitalized stands at 580, of which 96 are in ICUs,” said the spokesperson of Yazd Medical Sciences University on Saturday, according to the Mehr news agency.
