“We will be dealing with this illness for a long time and considering its various mutations, it is changing day by day,” said Alireza Zali, head of the Tehran Covid-19 Task Force on Friday. “Breaking the chain reaction depends on realizing adequate safety throughout our society. For this we need to vaccinate a large percentage of the population. With vaccination we will not only reduce the death rate but also decrease the spread of this virus,” he added, according to the state-controlled ISMA news agency.

“During the past 24 hours a 48-year old individual from the city of Abyek died of Covid-19. Evaluations indicate the individual had contracted the UK strain of this virus,” said the deputy dean of Qazvin Medical Sciences University on Friday. The head of this university said with the UK strain being found in Qazvin province authorities will be re-imposing some restrictions and limitations, according to the ISMA news agency.

“During the past few days Khuzestan province has changed from blue to yellow Covid-19 status and in the span of three days some cities have changed to orange status,” said the head of Khuzestan Health Center on Thursday. “The number of people hospitalized and new cases in the cities of Ahvaz and Shadegan is concerning. Shadegan is witnessing a faster spread of this virus,” this official added, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.

The deputy dean of Ahvaz Medical Sciences University referred to the doubling and tripling number of new cases in the past few weeks. “We are witnessing an increasing number of new cases among youths and children, which is very alarming. All the cities of Khuzestan province are considered yellow zones, and some are orange. Ahvaz is about to be registered as a red zone,” this official said on Friday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“Despite the fact that the city of Kashan is considered a yellow zone, signs indicate that the status quo is quite alarming,” said the dean of Kashan Medical Sciences University on Thursday. “A 65 percent increase in the number of people hospitalized and 35 percent increase in the number of people seeking medical care, both in comparison to late January, are very dangerous and indicate a peak has initiated in the cities of Kashan and Aran & Bidgol. If urgent measures are not taken the latter weeks of February and the month of March will be an extremely difficult period,” this official added, according to the Tasnim news agency, an outlet linked to the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC).

“The possibility of entering a fourth peak is quite high. Currently 160 people are in ICUs in hospitals across the province,” said the governor of Ardabil province in northwest Iran on Friday, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime's Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

“In some cities and towns, the number of new cases is significantly increasing. This includes the cities of Bestak and Parsian,” said the spokesperson of Hormozgan Medical Sciences University in southern Iran on Friday. “In the eastern part of this province, including the cities of Minab, Rudan, and the Qeshm and Kish Islands the number of new cases is on the rise and all cities in general are witnessing these indicators increasing,” this official added, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.
