“The number of new Covid-19 cases have once again been increasing across the country. If this trend continues in the next two weeks the number of people hospitalized will increase, and two weeks later the death rate will rise,” said Masoud Mardani, a member of the National Covid-19 Task Force on Monday. “We hope the new coronavirus wave will not be accompanied with various new mutated strains because if this does happen it will most certainly result in a much stronger wave and the death toll will be higher,” he added, according to the state controlled Sharaghna news agency.

“The current epidemic standing in Iran is very fragile and unstable. Therefore, portraying these conditions as normal and providing baseless hope can increase the possibility of the epidemic expanding in these dangerous circumstances,” said a senior member of the National Covid-19 Task Force on Monday. “The reopening of various areas without citing to scientific research and without taking into consideration national and local reservations is a grave mistake,” this official added, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“Concerns have escalated with the mutated UK strain entering the country. If a fourth weak begins it will be very defining wave,” said the head of Tehran’s Sina Hospital on Monday. “The stats indicate the fourth peak began in late January. Everyone is in danger of this virus. It is spreading at a rate five times higher and the death toll has tripled,” this official added, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“The number of patients currently suffering from the mutated strain and the number of new cases is increasing at a fast rate. If these conditions are not controlled this and next week, we will be witnessing a difficult and extremely heavy peak far more severe than the first peak,” said the dean of Jondi Shapour Medical Sciences University in Khuzestan province on Monday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“The number of hospitalized patients in hospitals covered by this university have tripled. If this trend continues the city of Sabzevar (northeast Iran) will enter the fourth peak of this virus,” said the dean of Sabzevar Medical Sciences University in Razavi Khorasan province on Sunday, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.

The dean of Hormozgan Medical Sciences University reported an increasing number of Covid-19 cases in rural areas. “In the past two weeks the coronavirus wave has been extremely strong in rural areas of Hormozgan province,” this official said on Monday, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.

“In the past 24 hours we have registered 332 new coronavirus cases across the province, being the highest in the past 50 days,” said the dean of West Azerbaijan Medical Sciences University on Monday, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.
