“The number of people hospitalized and seeking medical treatment is rising,” said Minoo Mohraz, a member of the National Covid-19 Task Force on Friday. “If this trend continues, we will probably witness a new increase and a fourth wave in late February or March. The increasing number of new cases and the coronavirus’ spread across Iran is extremely concerning. The mutated UK strain has been seen in Iran and most likely exists, and it may have been here from a while ago. Of course, we are hoping this virus does not spread across Iran. If it does, concerns will only escalate,” she added, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.

“If the new virus is to spread across the country, we have to at least expect a 40 percent increase in the number of new cases,” said the deputy dean of Iran Medical Sciences University on Friday. “In such circumstances we will see a repeat of the conditions witnessed back in November,” this official added, according to the state controlled Shafaqna news agency.

“Recently a higher number of children are contracting coronavirus which can be the result of the mutated virus,” said a member of the National Covid-19 Task Force’s Science Committee on Friday. “In the next one or two months there may be more children contracting the virus and the next peak will be witnessed. There will be no vaccination prior to April. The domestic vaccine, if approved, will begin mass production in June and in such circumstances the public vaccination effort will have to wait for next fall or winter,” this official added, according to the state controlled Shafaqna news agency.

“In our country we are currently witnessing around 6,000 new Covid-19 cases per day. The daily death rate continues, and we cannot consider this virus to be finalized,” said a member of the Tehran City Council on Friday, according to the Fars news agency, an outlet linked to the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC).

“We are concerned of entering the fourth wave during the months of February and March,” said the head of Tehran’s Khomeini Hospital on Friday, according to the semi-official ILNA news agency.

“The number of coronavirus patients hospitalized in the city of Bukan has doubled. The increase in the number of people seeking medical treatment in the past few days has raised this concern that Covid-19 is spreading in stronger fashion, and the number of deaths will increase proportionally,” said dean of Gholipoor Hospital in the city of Bukan, northwest Iran, on Friday, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.

“The previous waves began with small sparks and all of a sudden grew into a massive illness across the country,” said the governor of Lorestan on Thursday while emphasizing that there are signs of an increasing number of new cases in various parts of this province, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.

“Based on suggestions from the local Medical Sciences University we have announced red status in the town of Abarkuh. All restrictive measures will be imposed from Friday for a period of one week,” said the spokesperson of the Yazd Medical Sciences University on Friday, according to the semi-official ISNA news agency.
