Following the remarks of regime Foreign Mohammad Javad Zarif regarding the purchase of the Russian vaccine, Minoo Mohraz of the National Covid-19 Task Force reacted in criticism. “Importing the Russian vaccine by the government is a case of bad luck for the Iranian people. I am not happy with this choice at all,” she said on Thursday. “As a member of the medical society will not inject this vaccine because there has been no information published about it to this day. The coronavirus vaccine must meet global standards. A vaccine is considered standard when it is approved by an international organization, and one of these institutions is the World Health Organization and the other is the European Union Food and Drug Organization. This vaccine has no approval from any country,” she added, according to the state-controlled Jahan-e San’at daily. Mohraz also reported an increase in the number of new Covid-19 cases and said the number of people hospitalized in ICUs and the death toll will rise, according to the Javan daily, an outlet linked to the regime’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC).

“Areas of Tehran such as Ekbatan, Mahalati and Shahrak-e Gharb have populations the size of numerous cities. Tehran cannot be governed with normal administrative measures. If the virus’ fire engulfs Tehran it will be extremely difficult to put out,” said Health Minister Saied Namaki on Thursday. “There are no empty hospital beds in the towns of Islamshahr, Shahr-e Quds, Malard and Shahriar, with a total population running into a few millions. Considering the wide variety of people living in Tehran, we should not sit and wait for the mutated virus to enter. In fact, we may witness a mutation of the virus inside the country. Right now, considering the volume of commuting and the use of public transportation, the flames of this illness may have already been lit in Tehran,” he added, according to the Mehr news agency, an outlet linked to the regime's Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS).

In Mazandaran province the deans of Mazandaran and Babol Medical Sciences universities reported that in the past 24 hours 19 coronavirus patients have lost their lives and currently there are 1306 coronavirus patients hospitalized, of which 297 are in ICUs, according to the Javan daily.

“The number of Covid-19 deaths continues to rise and the total stands at 3503. Currently there are 331 people hospitalized, of which 110 are in ICUs and 30 individuals under ventilators,” said the dean of West Azerbaijan Medical Sciences University on Thursday, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.

“From January 24 the number of people hospitalized for coronavirus has increased significantly. This change is also seen in the number of patients in ICUs,” according to stats published by the Mashhad University of Medicine in Razavi Khorasan province on Thursday.

“In the course of three weeks the number of new Covid-19 cases and those hospitalized for coronavirus have increased and are similar to the numbers seen in late December. The alarm bell of the fourth Covid-19 wave is now being heard,” said the deputy dean Sabzevar Medical Sciences University on Thursday, according to the regime's official IRNA news agency.
