Iran’s coronavirus outbreak reaches catastrophic scale

Reporting by PMOI/MEK

Iran, July 9, 2020—The Iranian regime Health Ministry spokesperson announced on Tuesday that 200 people as victims of the novel coronavirus in one day. This marks a new record in the past five months. Although these statistics are engineered and unreal, but compared to the regime's own figures of 160 deaths on the previous day, it represents an 25-percent increase and shows the worsening of the situation.

Regime Health Minister Saeed Namaki, who has been absent since July 2, said “Due to tough problems these days I hadn’t any public talks with people,” He added, “I have a message to our distinguished officials, which I won’t announce from here. I will write to them.”

These “officials” must be regime president Hassan Rouhani which earlier, there were signs of his conflict between Namaki and other members of the Ministry of Health. Namaki said he was against reopening public places but “unfortunately, many did not take the warnings of me and my colleagues seriously, and so unfortunately we are now facing a new wave.”

Namaki also reminded that he had warned earlier: “We can take a hit in the final minutes.” While trying to strike a balance by blaming the people for the situation, he also made it clear that his words were aimed at the top of regime’s establishment.

“I begged those who pressured a lot to reopen public places but unfortunately they didn’t listen… maybe for some it was too much talking, but I didn’t like to get my point by such a heavy consequences and death of our people,” Namaki said.

On the one hand, these remarks show the worsening of the situation and are an acknowledgement of the regime failure in controlling the coronavirus crisis. On the other hand, it is shows the regime’s internal conflicts at the highest level of officials. Now it is waiting to see what Rouhani’s answer will be.

Regime health system is under pressure of disintegration of the dysfunctional, high number of patients and anger and dissatisfaction of the medical staff. They openly express their helplessness against the increase in number of deaths, and protest against the government.

The head of the Infectious Diseases Department at Masih Daneshvari Hospital said, “There are no empty beds. In the open air, shade is provided so that patients can be transferred to the ICU after the beds are emptied. Naturally, when the number of patients increases, it cannot be controlled.”

The president of the University of Medical Sciences of Hormozgan said, “Of 11,000 medical staff in Hormozgan province, 934 have so far contracted coronavirus, 50 percent of which has happened since June.”

The regime’s provincial television channels report on parts of the situation, where local reporters protest against the capital, a reflection of the social situation in these provinces.

Additionally, the strategy of regime’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and Hassan Rouhani to reach herd immunity is seriously questioned by internal experts. The consequences of this inhuman strategy has so far been the loss of lives of tens of thousands of people.

The Iranian opposition People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) announced on Wednesday that according to reports tallied by its internal network over 67,600 people have died of the novel coronavirus in 342 cities checkered across all of Iran’s 31 provinces.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), said the rapid rise in the number of Coronavirus victims across the country, especially in Tehran, to some of which the regime's officials reluctantly admit, is due to the criminal policies of Khamenei and Rouhani. Instead of providing temporary relief for workers, they force them to go to work in the busiest and most contaminated areas without minimum preventive and treatment resources. At the same time, they blame the people for not abiding by health protocols and for the spread of the virus. This is the strategy of mass casualties to forestall the danger of an uprising and their overthrow.
