3 May, 2018-- Merchants in Baneh, west of Iran continued their nineteenth day of the nationwide strike in protest to the closing of borders and raising tariffs.
The protest strike continued while the government deployed a large number of repressive IRGC mercenaries from other cities of Kurdistan to different parts of Baneh, and the city is currently in a state of unannounced martial law.Iranian plainclothes agents and state police patrol the city.
However, more than 90 people have been summoned to the Baneh intelligence ministry and some Kurdish clerical individuals have been threatened.
Baneh MP in the Iranian parliament, Mohsen Beegleri, has called on the people of Baneh to end their strike. Osman Moravati, the head of the Baneh Chamber of Commerce, has demanded an end to the strikes.
