Iran, On Sep. 8, the Iranian regime executed Ramin Hosseinpanahi, Loqman Moradi and Zanyar Moradi, three Kurdish political prisoners. The prisoners were tortured and forced to confess before being sentenced to death. The regime executed the prisoners in defiance of an international campaign to urge the regime to halt them.
The executions triggered a wave of international condemnation from politicians and human rights activists. The Iranian regime sees execution and suppression as its main means of survival at a time that its regime is engulfed by nationwide protests.
