Shah fails first coup against Dr. Mosaddeq

In continuation of regressive and colonial plots against the government of Dr. Mosaddeq, Iranian people’s anti-colonial movement leader, on February 28, 1953, another coup was plotted against him, yet failed.
Following the Shah’s false announcement of departing the country, on February 28 thugs and club wilders directed by Behbahni, a clergy supportive of the Shah, gathered at Shah’s palace intending to kill Dr. Mosaddeq who was invited to the palace by the Shah. But with the aids of a number of officers present in the palace, Mosaddeq was rescued from the coup and assassination.
The people of Tehran, outraged by the news regarding the coup and through a massive demonstration, condemned the reactionary-colonial conspiracy and once again announced their solid support for Dr. Mosaddeq.
