Samarra shrines explosion, Iranian regime’s appalling crime in Iraq

In the early hours of February 22, 2006, in an unprecedented act of terror, the Iranian regime exploded the Samarra shrines. A major part of the domes of 10th and 11th Shiite imams’ shrines were destroyed.
The Iranian Resistance strongly condemned the terrorist attack and acknowledged that it was planned by the Iranian regime’s intelligence agents.
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi immediately condemned this terrorist operation and stated:”I offer my deepest condolences to all Muslims and Shiites especially Iraqi people and Iranian compatriots for the catastrophe of emplacing bomb in the shrines of Imam Ali al-Naghi and Imam Hassan Askari. This bitter catastrophe that without a doubt is condemned by any noble individual in the world can only be carried out by the Iranian regime, which these days is especially instigating discord amongst Iraqi people. Iraqis are very familiar with the Iranian regime’s criminal methods.”
Following the terrorist blast of the shrines in Samarra, a planned sectarian slaughter, especially in Baghdad, was initiated during which in only a few days, using variety of light and semi-heavy arms, more than 168 Sunni mosques were destroyed and some of them demolished. These events showed that this terrorist operation was planned by the Iranian regime’s agents to provoke a sectarian war that could turn into an all out civil war.
