Devastating Bam earthquake with 70,000 deaths

On December 26, 2003, a 6.3 Richter razed the historical city of Bam in southeastern Kerman province and 70,000 lost their lives under the debris.
The mullahs prevented international aids from across the world to reach the victims. No efforts have been made to renovate the cities that lie on fault lines over the years.
Two years after this earthquake, the state-run Mehr news agency on October 12, 2005, cited: 650 days after Bam’s earthquake, it’s been reported that only1300 to 1500 families are living in houses and more than 16,000 families are still living in hardship in small trailers.
On January 9, 2009, BBC reported:  In protest to what a survivor of Bam quake called as official’s negligence, he set himself ablaze outsidethe Presidential palace. It had been reported that despite 5 years after the deadly earthquake in Bam,the survivors are still living in unsuitable conditions.
