Patrice Lumumba, Congo’s people anti-colonialism hero, executed

On January 17, 1961, Patrice Lumumba, the people of Congo’s anti-colonialism hero, was executed by Musa Chombe , a dictator who took over the government in a coup.
In Congo’s January and February, 1960 elections, the Congo National Movement that was founded by Patrice Lumumba in October 1958, along with other national parties gained an overwhelming victory and Lumumba undertook the Presidency of central government.
This victory was a hard blow to colonialism. Therefore, the conspiracies against Lumumba began and he was finally ousted by a coup and was arrested a few days after. He was handed over to Catatga’s dictator Musa Chombe. Catatga was one of Congo states that due to colonial conspiracy had proclaimed its independence after Lumumba’s victory and Musa Chombe was its prime minister.
Chombe’s agents, after beating them, transferred Lumumba and his comrades to the town’s outskirts and killed them.
