A Week Of Strikes In the Bordering Towns Of Iran

On Saturday, April 21, 2018, merchants and marketers in the Iranian cities of Bukan, Piranshahr, Mahabad, Sardasht, Marivan, Javanrud, and Baneh continued their strike in protest to closing border crossings in Iran.

Residents of Marivan villages also opposed the demands made by the Iranian government and the authorities to block the entrance of Uraman Takht and the route is currently blocked by the villagers.

The people of Marivan have been holding protest rallies in addition to the bazaar strike.

In Sardasht, people also rallied to demonstrate their protest over new tariffs and the rise of customs duties in front of the governorate of the city.

In Baneh, the unity of the bazaar shopkeepers and merchants together undermined the efforts of local authorities to end the strike of marketers.

It should be recalled that security forces began arresting a number of strikers since the continuation of the bazaar strike since Tuesday.

Also, on April 20th, four people were arrested in Marivan, one in Javanrud and four in Baneh, including Yadgar Sadeghi, who confronted, Saeed Jalili in the Baneh Mosque.
