On April 9, 1865 - the US civil war, after heavy casualties and countless financial damages ended.
Since 1860 when Abraham Lincoln elected as US President and took stance against slavery, the Southerners who were pro-slavery entered into war against Northerners and the civil war started which lasted 4 years and was intensified in 4 rounds; ultimately it was ended with the victory of Northerners.
A few days after civil war ended, Abraham Lincoln was assassinated. The slavery was officially abrogated after the civil war.
The casualties during civil war was 618,000 military killed (258,000 Southerners and 360,000 Northerners). The widespread devastation and civilian casualties were several times larger than military casualties.
