The world must unite against Tehran’s terrorism

Reporting by PMOI/MEK

Iran, July 22, 2020—The third online meeting of the Iranian Resistance’s annual event, the “Free Iran Global Summit,” was held on Monday, July 20, in Ashraf 3, the headquarters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization or Iran (PMOI/MEK), and in many cities across the world. Titled, “Iran Regime’s Terrorism – Shut Down Tehran’s Embassies Abroad, Expel its Agents, Operatives,” the event brought together hundreds of distinguished political figures from the United States, Europe, and Albania. The keynote speaker of the event was Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI). In her speech, Mrs. Rajavi briefly explained the theoretical foundations of the mullahs’ regime's terrorism, the history and reasons for its growth and expansion.

“Terrorism is the essence and fundamental nature of this regime and it is inseparable from it,” Mrs. Rajavi emphasized in her speech and reminded the remarks of Iranian Resistance leader Massoud Rajavi, who had said: “If someday, the regime abandons the export of fundamentalism and terrorism abroad and limit itself within Iran’s boundaries, if will implode and disintegrate.”

The veracity of this statement has been proven time and again in the past four decades. The Iranian resistance has consistently stressed that the regime's use of terrorism and reaction is not due to its power and stability, but to the inability of a medieval regime to adapt to the demands of the contemporary world.

The regime is unable to handle the economic and social crises of the Iranian society and seeks to solve its problems through warmongering policies and intervening in other countries.

What the international community and Western countries largely neglected was the fact that the Velayat-e-Faqih regime, while being the enemy of the Iranian people, is also a global threat and the number one state-sponsor of terrorism in today's world. Alongside the repression, executions, and mass murder in Iran, the regime is looking for a nuclear bomb and poses a threat to the whole world through its proxies and affiliated terrorist groups.

Iran’s mega-terrorism threatens the world

Mrs. Rajavi summoned a list of hundreds of regime’s terrorist attacks in recent decades in various countries and said, “After the 2003 Iraq War and the hidden occupation of that country by the mullahs, the era of the regime's mega-terrorism began and the mullahs’ record has been horrendous in Afghanistan, Yemen, Lebanon and, more than every other place, in Syria and Iraq.”

Four decades of failure of Western states to contain the Iranian regime’s terrorism through appeasement and concession have proven the Iranian Resistance leader’s remarks that a reform in this regime is impossible.

Mrs. Rajavi did not only summon the history of mullahs’ regime terrorism but described the regime’s current situation as very weak and reminded: “The right policy can be summed up in a single word: firmness.”

The mullahs only understand the language of firmness, and they interpret everything else as a sign of weakness in their counterparts.

Prominent figures testify to the truthfulness of the views of the Iranian resistance

Many distinguished personalities who spoke at the conference emphasized the truthfulness of the views of the Iranian resistance.

Former U.S. Senator Robert Torricelli emphasized that all the regime’s governmental facilities are used in service of its terrorist aims.

“The regime’s embassies are covers for terrorist activity. They also use them to procure nuclear material,” Senator Torricelli said, adding, “Do [European] governments really want legal responsibility that embassies in their countries were used to take lives? It is time to close the embassies of the regime and to put the Quds Force on the terror list.”

Struan Stevenson, the coordinator of the Campaign for Iran Change in Iran and a former Member of the European Parliament, reminded the regime’s failed bombing plot against the Free Iran 2018 rally and said: “Who ordered Assadollah Assadi to plot a bomb attack on the gathering of the Iranian Resistance? Zarif could not have ordered the bomb attack without the permission of [president Hassan] Rouhani and [supreme leader Ali] Khamenei. All regime leaders must be held to account and indicted for acts of terror in international tribunals. All embassies of the mullahs must be closed as factories of terrorism.”

Former Albanian Prime Minister Pandeli Majko said: “The only option for the Iranian regime is to change. Iran is not acting like a state. It is interfering in the internal affairs of countries. It is acting on its own geopolitical interests and does not respect international norms.”

Tom Ridge, first U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security said: “As we have said during this three-day summit, it’s time for the world to embrace regime change, to recognize the NCRI, this incredible organization led by a leader who has been able to generate global support for her vision for a peaceful and non-nuclear Iran, which promotes gender equality and separation of church and state.”
